This will not impact freeway traffic lanes. Shoulder closures on the ramps at 14 Mile, Rochester, Big Beaver and Crooks are needed to move vehicles in and out of the interchange safely to conduct tree removals and to document the areas for vegetation replacement at the end of the project. The work is also required to make room for equipment and materials storage during the project in the short term, for the upcoming Spring freeway construction.
The shoulder only on NB & SB I-75 at Wattles will also have intermittent closures between 8am-4pm daily, starting Friday, February 22, 2019 and ending on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.
The preliminary work on southbound I-75 between Coolidge Highway and 13 Mile Road has concluded and all lanes are now open to traffic. Preliminary work included widening and paving the shoulders of I-75 for an eventual traffic shift next year, putting all traffic on the southbound side of the freeway with two lanes open each direction, as was done in the first segment of construction in 2016.
This news comes just one day after the northbound lanes and Rochester Road work also wrapped up early for the winter.
Work on this project will start again in early spring 2019. Thank you all for your continued patience with this important project. See full press release.
