Segment 3

Segment 3 Tunnel Boring Machine Naming Contest

Oakland Corridor Partners in cooperation with MDOT, is pleased to announce a contest to name our state-of-the-art Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). The TBM will be used to construct a four mile long storage and drainage tunnel from Meyers Avenue to just north of 12 Mile Road approximately 100 feet below the I-75 freeway in Oakland County. The tunnel’s purpose is to alleviate flooding in the freeway corridor such as was experienced in 2014. In keeping with underground construction custom, we are soliciting the public’s help in selecting a name for the TBM. The name will honor a local woman who has made a difference in the world and in particular Oakland County.

If you would like to participate in the contest, please follow this link TBM Naming Contest for more information. The contest will close on March 31, 2020 so please make your choice soon!
